A new benchmark for sustainable communities has been set in regional NSW, with Redleaf in Orange becoming the first development in the region to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
Developed in partnership with Orange City Council, Redleaf is creating more than just new homes. The future neighbourhood has been designed to support how people live, move and connect, with a strong focus on sustainability, resilience and community wellbeing.
The 6 Star rating is the highest available under the Green Star Communities framework and recognises excellence across a range of areas, including liveability, environmental performance, governance and economic prosperity.
Landcom’s masterplanning for Redleaf has identified opportunities for around 300 homes, including houses, duplexes and townhouses. The development will transform more than 24 hectares of council-owned land creating more housing choice for the Orange community.
Parks, open spaces and active transport connections will be woven throughout the neighbourhood to help create a connected and walkable place to live.
Features recognised as part of the rating include climate resilience initiatives, biodiversity planning, sustainable construction practices and early community engagement. Together, these elements will help create a community that is designed to respond to both current and future needs.
The recognition places Redleaf alongside some of Australia's leading sustainable communities.
Redleaf will launch its first land release to the market this month, following the official opening of the new sales office in August.
