Plans unveiled for five hundred resilient new homes in East Lismore
Landcom and the NSW Reconstruction Authority have revealed new details for how a site in East Lismore can unlock a new flood resilient community of more than 500 new homes.
The draft masterplan includes a mix of terraces, duplexes, detached homes and relocated buyback homes, creating more housing choice for local residents.
The plan also includes at least 20 per cent affordable housing for very low- to moderate-income households, helping more people access well-located homes in a region experiencing significant housing pressure.
Landcom and the NSW Reconstruction Authority have designed the proposed neighbourhood with resilience in mind. Increased tree canopy, water-sensitive urban design, walkable streets and housing located away from flood-prone areas will help create a sustainable community that responds to the region's environment and climate challenges.
It’s the latest step in addressing housing shortages in the Northern Rivers while supporting long-term recovery following the 2022 floods.
Eligible participants in the Resilient Homes Program will receive priority access to land and homes before any remaining properties are released to the broader market.
To help deliver homes sooner, Landcom is progressing Stage 1 of the development in parallel with planning for the broader 72-hectare community. Stage 1 is expected to deliver around 100 homes, while community feedback on the draft masterplan will help refine the long-term vision for future stages of the neighbourhood.
