Plans unveiled for five hundred resilient new homes in East Lismore
At Schofields in Sydney’s north-west, we are exploring how new building approaches could support future housing delivery through a pilot project using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
The pilot involves nine terrace homes that have been manufactured in sections within a controlled factory environment before being transported to site for assembly.
Importantly, this is a pilot project. The goal is not simply to build nine homes differently. It is to learn where MMC can add value, where challenges remain and how these methods may contribute to future housing delivery across NSW.
The project is helping Landcom better understand how manufacturing, logistics, quality assurance and construction sequencing can work together.
The homes form part of the broader Burdekin Road community, which will provide a diverse mix of housing options, including affordable housing for key workers.
The lessons gained from Schofields will help inform Landcom’s future approach to innovation in housing delivery.
