Landcom offers key site for Affordable Housing

Landcom today announced the release of a key site at Lachlan’s Line in Macquarie Park, for around 100 affordable housing units for key workers.

Landcom CEO John Brogden said Landcom is excited to offer the 2,500 square metre site to Community Housing Providers through a Request for Proposal process, which is expected to deliver around 100 affordable housing dwellings.

“The release of this site for 100 per cent affordable housing, is a demonstration of Landcom’s commitment to providing affordable housing for those on low to moderate incomes, such as health, retail and childcare workers,” Mr Brogden said.

“Landcom will be looking for an experienced Community Housing Provider that is capable of demonstrating innovative approaches to providing affordable housing, including rental, and exploring the potential for co-living, co-operative and shared equity housing models.

“The Community Housing Provider that partners with us will bring significant experience and industry knowledge to the project, and will be willing to commit to collaborative co-design principles,” Mr Brogden said.

The successful Community Housing Provider will be selected through a Request for Proposal process that was launched on 29 June.

Mr Brogden said that while many tender processes can be both costly and resource-intensive for Community Housing Providers, Landcom has developed a two part process designed to be less onerous in time and costs for the sector.

“Landcom has worked hard to develop a streamlined, transparent and inclusive tender application process which features a new tender portal hosted on Landcom’s website.

“Landcom will work with the successful Community Housing Provider to ensure the collective vision of this significant project is delivered,” Mr Brogden said.

To be eligible to lodge a submission, Community Housing Providers must be listed on the National Provider Register of the National Regulatory System – Community Housing.

Submissions for Request for Proposals Part 1 close 4.00pm 21 August 2020.
