UrbanGrowth NSW superlots on sale at Lachlan's Line

UrbanGrowth NSW is calling for expressions of interest for a second stage land release at Lachlan’s Line, a transit-oriented development located in the fast growing Macquarie Park corridor in Sydney’s North.

The Lachlan’s Line project was announced by the NSW Government in 2013 as part of the NSW Government’s North Ryde Station Precinct. The new contemporary urban village will provide approximately 2,700 homes for around 5,000 residents in close proximity to jobs, shops, and transport.

The latest land release includes two high density residential superlots (which will be sold together) and an affordable housing offering which must be purchased by a community housing provider, or a private developer in a joint venture or similar partnership arrangement with a community housing provider.

Award winning architecture firm Bates Smart has prepared the concept design for the two high density residential sites which have the potential for around 172 apartments and the third site which has provision for around 96 affordable housing apartments intended for key workers such as teachers, emergency service workers and nurses.

Positioned along a main street corridor, the sites are the second land release to be put up for sale within the 9ha Lachlan’s Line project. Greenland Australia Investment Pty Ltd was awarded the tender for the first development site in late 2014, a 1.2ha, mixed-use retail and apartment precinct.

Matthew Beggs, Head of Western Sydney Projects at UrbanGrowth NSW, said the vision for Lachlan’s Line is to create a vibrant new residential neighbourhood and local destination with quality public domain and amenity.

“Macquarie Park is considered one of the most sought after residential development locations in Sydney. Lachlan’s Line is ideally positioned to capitalise on opportunities such as transport, employment, education, and the high level of demand for quality residential apartments within the Macquarie Park area,” said Mr Beggs.

“We are expecting strong interest from local and international developers who can demonstrate the capability to deliver outcomes in line with our vision for Lachlan’s Line.”

As masterplanners for the site, UrbanGrowth NSW is coordinating the planning, civil infrastructure, and public amenity for Lachlan’s Line. This includes the delivery of high quality public domain, roads, public art, and the Lachlan’s Line pedestrian and cycleway ‘helix’ bridge which will link the site to North Ryde train station.

The development site is being marketed through Colliers International, who will run a one month local and international expression of interest campaign. The two high density residential sites and the affordable housing offering will be subject to separate approvals by City of Ryde or the Joint Regional Planning Panel.

The call for expressions of interest opens today and closes at 3pm on 29 July 2016.
