Lights Up Festival - a sneak preview of Lachlan’s Line

The Lights Up Festival will feature delicious eats from some of the best of Sydney’s food trucks, live music and entertainment, games and children’s activities, and a lighting display.

The family event, to be held at Central Park at Lachlan’s Line, will run on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 March 2017, from 5pm – 10 pm on both days.

Matthew Beggs, Head of Western Sydney Projects Portfolio for UrbanGrowth NSW, said the Lachlan’s Line Lights Up Festival is designed to provide locals with a feel for what this new area will be like once people start to move in over the next 18 months or so.

“Lachlan’s Line Lights Up Festival is a ‘sneak preview’ of this major development, an opportunity for residents, office workers and others to explore this future community within the City of Ryde,” Mr Beggs said.

City of Ryde Mayor, Clr Bill Pickering, said there will be something for everyone at the Lights Up Festival.

“At Lachlan’s Line Lights Up Festival you will be able to explore the new parks and village green, show off your talents in the performance space, or try out the equipment in the new children’s playground.

“The kids can show off their skills in the scoot and skate park, learn about home grown veggies at the community gardens, or explore the art works and bushland reserve,” added Clr Pickering.

The Lachlan’s Line Lights Up Festival is promoting environmentally sustainable modes of transport and access. People are encouraged to use public transport, either by catching a train to North Ryde or Macquarie Park train station and walking the short distance to the site, or catching one of the many buses that stop right outside the site (routes 290, 291, 292, 293, 294, 545 or 550).

People can also ride a bike or walk to the site, and as there is limited parking on site, anyone wanting to drive is encouraged to car pool with neighbours or friends.

The Lachlan’s Line Lights Up Festival is being held on Friday 17 March and Saturday 18 March 2017, 5pm – 10 pm both days.
