Green Square milestone

Late August saw a major milestone for Green Square, with the arrival of the first crane on site for the start of construction on the 10-storey, 174 apartment building, Ebsworth. Planning Minister Rob Stokes and Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore were present at the event.

This was not just a milestone for the development of Green Square Town Centre, but also a very significant milestone for UrbanGrowth NSW. It marked the beginning of the first construction phase on one of our urban transformation programs.

Also recognised on the day was the completion of Ebsworth Street, the future high street for the Green Square Town Centre. Delivered by UrbanGrowth NSW with delivery partner Mirvac, the high street is part of the delivery of essential civil infrastructure works for the town centre. These works, which started in July 2014, have included the delivery of water, sewer, power, roads, footpaths, street furniture and planting.

Mr Stokes said of the milestones, “These are important achievements in the transformation of former industrial land to create a new world class town centre for people of the inner south, at the same time generating new jobs and a range of housing choices.”

The Ebsworth building is located on Ebsworth St at the northern end of Green Square Town Centre, just 200 metres from Green Square Railway Station. The first residents will move in late next year and, when it’s completed, UrbanGrowth NSW will have contributed to around 1,800 new homes for about 4000 residents.
