UrbanGrowth NSW is pleased to congratulate Australand on delivering The Ponds Shopping Centre, opening its doors on May 30. Its completion represents the final major piece of infrastructure to be built in one of Sydney’s fastest growing suburbs – The Ponds, which was master planned by UrbanGrowth NSW.

The $40 million centre, located on the corner of The Ponds Boulevard and Riverbank Drive in The Ponds, is the first and only retail project in Australia to receive a 6 Star Green Star – Retail Centre Design v1 rating, which represents world leadership in sustainable design.

Green Star is an internationally recognised sustainability rating system for buildings and communities. The Green Star – Retail Centre v1 rating tool assesses the environmental attributes of new and refurbished retail centres in Australia.

UrbanGrowth NSW Head of Retail Matthew Beggs said of the new shopping hub, “This will be the heart of The Ponds suburb, and we celebrate a project that has set a benchmark in residential development for the most successful master-planned project in New South Wales’ history.

“The completion of the retail precinct marks the final piece of the jigsaw greatly anticipated by The Ponds residents. We can all be proud of the legacy we leave behind a vibrant community in one of Sydney’s most sought after suburbs, The Ponds.”
