Member for Camden Chris Patterson, Member for Ku-Ring-Gai The Hon Barry O’Farrell, and Camden Council Mayor Cr Lara Symkowiak, officially opened the new intersection between Liz Kernohan Drive and the Camden Bypass on August 29. The intersection completed the vital first stage for Liz Kermohan Drive.

This new link road connects Richardson Road to the Camden Bypass, and will reduce traffic congestion and provide better access to communities at Spring Farm and Elderslie. With the intersection’s completion, an additional 4000 lots have been released in the Spring Farm and Elderslie release areas.

UrbanGrowth NSW was the lead agency on the project, working with the Department of Planning & Environment, and Camden Council. UrbanGrowth NSW managed the design, construction and landscaping of the 800 metre dual carriageway road, which also includes a signalised intersection with the Camden Bypass.

The official opening included a tree planting ceremony and the unveiling of a plaque to honour the memory and works of the late Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Kernohan. Ms Kernohan spent more than 30 years in public life, with two decades on Camden Council, including two terms as Mayor. She passed away in 2004.

Around 35 people, including representatives from Camden Council, UrbanGrowth NSW, Department Planning & Environment, and Camden Historical Society as well as representatives from construction partners TRN and Landscape Solutions, Consultant Partners J Wyndham_Prince, SMEC, Cardno and Manyo Design were in attendance for the event.

Further extensions of Liz Kernohan Drive are planned for the future. These include an eastern extension of the road to Nicholson Parade in Spring Farm and then on to the Industrial Haul Road.
