Landcom is inviting the community to help design a new park in the Hills Showground Station Precinct. The park will be among several public spaces to be delivered as part of the Sydney Metro Northwest Places program.
Lancom Executive General Manager of Projects Scott Gregg said the park will be an important step towards establishing a new transit-oriented neighbourhood at Hills Showground.
“Landcom wants to create a park that will appeal to all age groups while providing a ‘leafy shared backyard’ for nearby residents and the community,” Mr Gregg said
“The park will be a place for people to relax, exercise, and meet with friends and family, and Landcom are looking for your ideas and suggestions to help shape what it will look like.
“Over the coming years, the Showground Station Precinct will transform into a thriving new neighbourhood, which will include 1,620 homes, shops, commercial spaces, and green open spaces are a key part of this.
“The online engagement will help Landcom understand how locals could use the park and to hear ideas for park features including play and fitness equipment, shelters and picnic spaces.”
Community members are invited to visit the online consultation page until Tuesday 31 August 2021. Consultation will include an online forum and online workshops, which are in line with current COVID-19 health and safety restrictions.
The feedback received will be considered by Landcom before the detailed design for the park is finalised and submitted to The Hills Shire for assessment.
