16 June 2020

Urban Futures, Landcom and Western Sydney University’s (WSU) innovative business program for property startups, has kicked off with Jamie Pride announced as entrepreneur in residence, and the participation of 11 startups in this unique program tailored to fast-track property industry professionals.

Landcom Executive General Manager for Partnerships and Business Development Matthew Beggs, said that Landcom was proud to partner with WSU on the exciting Urban Futures program, supported through WSU’s Launch Pad Business Incubator.

“The 11 startups selected to participate in the program will focus on five areas of property-related business including community and education, liveability, sustainability, markets and finance, and regulation management.

“These participants will have the opportunity to catalyse innovation within the property industry as well as experience deep professional development through tailored business training, virtual collaboration spaces, and networking and mentoring from industry and commercialisation experts,” Mr Beggs said.

Head of WSU’s Launch Pad Innovation Program said Landcom and WSU will be working closely with the startups over the coming weeks in preparation for the highly anticipated Demonstration Day in July, when these fledgling businesses will showcase their products to industry, potential customers and investors.

Former venture capitalist, property executive and current entrepreneur in residence, Jamie Pride said that while the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are affecting startup support programs and the Proptech industry globally, there is no better time for innovation and the three-month program has been adapted to be fully virtual.
