Subdivision works progressing for future homes

Works are progressing to create lots for new homes. The future homes will include a mix of freestanding houses, duplexes, terraces and low-rise apartments - designed to complement the existing neighbourhood and provide greater housing choice and affordability.

The development will also deliver new green spaces, landscaping, a pedestrian path, and a new access street with approximately 58 on-street parking spaces.

Construction update

TRN is aiming to finish demolition and remediation works by the end of the year. They will then start subdivision works to deliver new roads, services and open space by mid-2026, subject to weather conditions.

Over the next couple of months, there will be more trucks on Hospital Road bringing materials on and off site. Traffic control will be in place to support the safety of all road users and minimise community disruption.

To manage dust and runoff during construction, water carts are in use and erosion controls such as haybales, sandbags and a temporary sediment basin have been installed.

Affordable housing concept in development

We are preparing a concept plan for approximately 13 affordable rental homes on two lots fronting Hospital Road. Design options under consideration include a low-rise apartment building that will comply with Council's development controls, reflect the local character and improve housing outcomes for the community.

Once a design is ready, we will notify nearby residents in line with planning requirements.  Delivery of affordable housing is subject to funding and the appointment of a community housing provider.

Managing weeds to protect trees

We have started targeted weed removal on the southern part of the site. This work supports remediation activities and will help protect large, established trees. Invasive species such as lantana, asparagus fern, blackberry and privet are being removed.

New street names submitted

Based on community feedback, we’ve submitted the following names to Council for approval:

  • Turpentine Crescent – for the new road
  • Nurses Lane – for the access lane, honouring the former hospital on the site.
