Shared path improves waterfront access

1 June 2026

Last week we opened additional areas of the under‑construction park at Wentworth Point, improving community access to the waterfront and providing a new scenic route around the peninsula.

The five-metre-wide pedestrian and cycle path connects to the ferry wharf and features:

  • two outdoor fitness stations
  • drinking fountains
  • solar-powered lighting
  • seating areas
  • native trees and plants.

It’s a relaxed, green space to walk, ride and exercise while taking in views over Homebush Bay and the Parramatta River.

Visitors can also see the saltmarsh at the northern tip of the peninsula, which is being rehabilitated to boost biodiversity, protect the riverbank, capture carbon and improve waterway health.

You can access the open park areas (shown in blue on the map below) from the new local road and carpark east of Wentworth Point High School, or via Ferry Wharf Circuit next to Wentworth Point Public School.

Subject to weather, final approvals and material delivery, we expect all areas of the park to be opened to the public towards the end of 2026. Some facilities or equipment may need to be finished in the new year.

Work hours are 7am-6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-4pm Saturdays.

About the park

The headland park will be just over four hectares (40,000sqm), including approximately 8,000sqm of active open space.

The park will feature a playground, fitness equipment, shared paths, sheltered picnic areas, landscaping and an active open space shared with the neighbouring schools.

Sharing public infrastructure and resources between schools and growing communities offers a unique opportunity to deliver better outcomes for all and increases land use efficiency.

The community can access the active open space from 8am-5pm on weekends during the school term and every day during school holidays, with these hours to be updated in Term 4 2026 to reflect daylight savings. Scheduling for shared use arrangements at the active open space (e.g. bookings by sporting groups) will be confirmed in the future.
