Wentworth Point update Park

Park construction

Works are progressing well to deliver four hectares of waterfront public space at Wentworth Point. We have nearly finished ground remediation and earthworks.  Works will then shift above ground, and we will begin landscaping next month. New trees and plants will soon bring the space to life as a relaxing and green place for the community to enjoy.

We have finished constructing a 450-metre seawall along the Wentworth Point foreshore. Built over four months, these sandstone structures are designed to last 50 years, protecting the shoreline from erosion. Six different types of seawall sections were constructed to suit different site conditions, including designs that support shared paths and allow tidal flows to nourish salt marsh habitats.

We started constructing the new shared pedestrian and cycle path in mid-September. This five-metre-wide path will connect the new access road to the northern end of the peninsula, linking to the school and existing shared path.
When finished it will provide improved access around the peninsula and to the ferry wharf.

Due to the ground conditions near the water’s edge, the path is being stabilised using deep steel screw piles installed up to 12 metres deep. This unique and innovative approach is well-suited to the specific ground conditions on site. We expect to finish the shared path by the end of the year.

Subject to weather and approvals, the park will be open to the community by mid-2026. Work hours are 7am-6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-4pm Saturdays.

Mixed-use development application approved

Last year, we submitted a development application to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for a revised mixed-use precinct at 9 Burroway Road. The application proposes a smaller development footprint than previously approved, with two nine-storey buildings for approximately 412 apartments, new shops and additional public space.

Following public exhibition earlier this year, the Department approved the application this month.

We are currently in the process of selling the mixed-use site to a like-minded developer who will deliver the buildings to realise our vision for the site. The future owner will be required to submit a detailed development application before construction can begin.
