About the project

Landcom prepared the masterplan for Macarthur Heights and is managing the development. Responsibilities include managing planning approvals, construction and sale of residential lots and delivery of open spaces.

Masterplanning for the site commenced in 2007 with a final masterplan completed in 2012. Initial development approvals were secured between 2012-2014 with the first lots released for sale in 2014.

Macarthur Heights includes 966 lots, as well as open spaces, and improved links to Macarthur station, Macarthur Square, the Wester Sydney University campus, the Campbelltown TAFE and The Australian Botanic Gardens.

The project will benefit the community by:

  • providing a range of different sized housing lots, at different price-points, to provide opportunity for households of all sizes and incomes to build their own home
  • delivering over 30ha of open space and community facilities, dotted across the development to ensure that all residents can access and enjoy green spaces.

The project demonstrates Landcom’s ability to partner with private landowners to supply new housing and to create great places to live.

Current works

Stage 5

Construction of Stage 5 is underway. Activities include:

  • civil works, including services and utilities 

Works are anticipated to finish in mid-2020.

Claremont Park

Works are underway on a new, small park with landscaping on University Drive.

Works are anticipated to finish in early 2020.

Sportsfields Precinct

Earthworks are underway on two multi-purpose playing fields, part of a new sportsfield precinct planned for Macarthur Heights.

We have not yet received approval from Council for the landscaping for the playing fields. We will update this page with anticipated construction timeframes after we receive this approval.

Lake Thomson

Works will commence in early 2020 on a new family friendly park alongside Lake Thomson. The park will include:

  • picnic areas for families
  • BBQ facilities
  • an amenities block
  • footpaths and landscaping.

Works are anticipated to finish in late 2020.
