SOUTH WEST SYDNEY SUBURB GETS A FRESH START

The Campbelltown region is celebrating a new beginning for the suburb of Minto as construction gets underway on a unique urban renewal project.

Undertaken by Landcom, Housing NSW and Campbelltown City Council, One Minto will deliver around 1,150 quality homes within a reconfigured community, where new public houses will be scattered amongst a larger majority of affordable private housing.

Landcom General Manager, Michael Burt said the community is called ‘One Minto’ to symbolise the joining of new and existing communities.

“One Minto will breathe new life into Minto. By creating a fresh physical environment that is available to all residents, through improved landscaping, parks and roads and  new housing designs, we are creating a vibrant, cohesive community that will be strengthened through new facilities and a new outlook,” said Burt.

One Minto will also provide $10 million worth of community facilities including:

  • six new parks with BBQs and play equipment,
  • $1.5 million new community centre and childcare facilities, and
  • landscaped streets and footpaths.

Landcom's One Minto Builder Team comprising of AVJennings, Clarendon Homes, Rawson Homes and Wisdom Homes will build both the new private and public housing, to ensure the new streetscapes remain completely unified.

One Minto will be completed over a period of seven years. Stage One, due for release in September 2008, will include 79 home sites, 11 public housing dwellings and a Display Village comprising of nine display homes and a project information centre.

“With One Minto, we believe we are offering a particularly attractive opportunity for first home buyers looking to break into the property market, with 800 affordable and modern homes for sale over the life of the project,” said Burt.
