Overview

Over the past year, Landcom has been working closely with Penrith City Council on plans to create a residential, commercial, retail and recreation precinct next to Penrith Station.

The NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure has now approved plans for the first stage of the project.

This approval follows extensive community consultation, including the formal public exhibition process in November 2010 and we thank the community for their input throughout the consultation process.

Key elements of the approved Concept Plan include:

  • Approximately 900-1000 dwellings
  • A variety of housing types including detached houses, terraces, townhouses, lofts and apartments
  • A new Station Square centered around a public square with 4,500m2 of retail and 10,650m2 of commercial space to create a vibrant centre for the new precinct
  • Publicly accessible open space including, a new oval, water parks and public art
  • community pavilion integrated into the proposed children’s playground and barbeque area, all abilities playground and pop jet fountains
  • A transport and pedestrian network both within the site and integrated with the surrounding area, ensuring residents enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle including:
    • Walking and cycling networks
    • Intersection upgrades along Coreen Avenue
    • A Public Transport Corridor allowing buses direct access to Penrith Station from Coreen Ave.
  • Protected local heritage features, including retaining Thornton Hall, a 19th century homestead building, and its surrounds.
